The Construction Procurement Specialist works closely with construction and purchasing management to ensure that construction tools, consumables and materials are acquired in a cost effective and timely manner. This position assists in costing projects, managing updated drawings, and permitting.
Purchase construction consumables and other miscellaneous building products.
Assist in lumber and hardware takeoffs.
Maintain database of lumber and hardware pricing and takeoffs.
Enhance the purchasing function for construction consumables, tools and materials by developing/improving vendor relationships.
Verify purchase requisitions, identify appropriate vendors and ensure on-time delivery.
Monitor RFPs in accordance with company policies and practices.
Evaluate order and bid documentation (requisitions, change orders, bids, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring proper acquisition of supplies within compliance guidelines.
Assist in obtaining required permits, maintaining file of updated drawings and making adjustments to project costs due to changes.
Prepare written materials (e.g. purchase orders, memos, specifications, quotations, schedules, price analyses, vendor selection, sole/single justifications, best value, and technical evaluations, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference and/or conveying information related to purchasing activities.
Act as liaison between internal departments and construction project management team.
Associate’s degree in business, construction or other related field.
3+ years of experience in the construction industry dealing with procurement contracts and administration.
Basic accounting knowledge.
Strong analytical skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
