Attention candidates enrolled in the 40 hour Life, Health & Annuity (2-15) Agent Pre-Licensing course. The State of Florida, Department of Financial Services, has changed the requirements necessary to obtain this license. As of October 1, 2015, candidates must complete a total of 60 educational hours (up from 40) in addition to passing a school and state administered exam.
For candidates that have completed their 40 educational hours, but have not passed the Gold Coast class exam have three options:
Gold Coast has arranged several dates where you may attend and retest for the final exam. (View schedule.) During this time you will be given 2 hours to complete a 100 question exam. A passing score of 70% is required.
If you do not pass the exam during one of these retest dates, you will need to transfer into the new 60 hour course. The new course has different requirements then that of the 40 hour course.
Please contact a Career Counselor to register for this exam. Pre-Registration is required.
Transfer into the new 60 hour course. There is no fee to transfer into this course and the hours you completed in the 40 hour course will be credited. However you will need to meet the new requirements. These include:
- 3 – 50 question exams (instead of 1 – 100 question exam).
- 50 Questions pertaining to Life & Annuity
- 50 Questions pertaining to Health Insurance
- 50 Questions pertaining to Common Concepts between Life, Health & Annuities
- Must earn a cumulative passing score of 70% on all 3 exams.
- Obtain additional hours necessary to meet the 60 hour requirement.
Transfer into the Online 2-15 course. NOTE: If you transfer into the online course, you will need to complete the entire course and you WILL NOT receive credit for the hours previously completed. In addition, you will need to complete all chapter quizzes, unit exams, and final exams. The transfer fee into the online course will be waived however, if you are using an old version of the state study manual (Version 28 or earlier) you will be required to purchase a current edition state study manual.
Whichever option you choose, your tuition will be valid for its initial time frame.
For candidates that have not completed the 40 educational hour requirements, you will need to select Option 2 or Option 3. Your tuition will be valid for its initial time frame.
Starting January 1, 2016, all candidates will need to meet the new 60 hour requirements. Also, beginning January 1, 2016, DFS will begin using the 30th Edition of the State Study Manual. (We should have them in stock by late November/early December for purchase.)
