Florida Sales Associate and Broker Post-license Education Explained

Real estate sales associates in Florida must complete 45 hours of post-license education prior to their first license renewal deadline or their license will be null & void.  This would require repeating the sales associate pre-license course and passing the state exam again in order to continue practicing real estate.  Real estate brokers who do not complete the mandatory 60 hours of post-license education on time may revert back to a sales associate by completing 14 hours of continuing education, submitting Form # DBPR 15, and paying applicable fees.  In order to re-obtain a Florida broker’s license, the 72-hour broker pre-license course, state application, and state exam must all be completed again.  Learn more about license renewal deadlines in our article, “How to Verify a Florida Real Estate License Renewal Date”.

As a result of the consequences associated with failing to renew on time, Gold Coast Schools recommends students complete all post-license education requirements shortly after obtaining their initial license.  While new licensees technically have up to 18-24 months to fulfill this requirement, the sooner it is done, the better.
