Jr. Regulatory Compliance Attorney

Duties and Responsibilities:

Review and monitor legislative, regulatory, and other mandated changes and provide analysis and advice on legal and regulatory risks and compliance impact to the business
Provide oral and written communication regarding compliance or legal issues to various departments and levels of management as well as state departments of insurance and outside legal counsel
Research relevant laws, regulations, and case law to interpret and draft policy contract forms, endorsements, and applications needed to support new and existing products
Conduct routine audits of products and/or procedures to ensure continuous compliance
Work with the Director of Regulatory Compliance to develop and maintain processes and procedures to facilitate the timely and accurate execution of all types of product enhancements
Work with the Director of Regulatory Compliance in overseeing market conduct exams, financial exams, and other regulatory actions and/or inquiries
Draft and maintain company policies and plans
Compile information and maintains relevant records related to quality improvement and compliance monitoring activities for internal use and external audits
Ensure that product programs follow state regulations
Provide advice and guidance to all business units as to best practices and current system functionality as well as provide guidance and advice for enhancements or changes
All other duties assigned by Management
Requirements:

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
Licensed to practice law in Florida and a member in good standing
Minimum five (5) years of professional work experience practicing law in insurance regulation
Minimum five (5) years experience in the Property & Casualty Insurance Industry
Ability to understand and interpret insurance laws, regulations, industry guidelines, statutes, administrative regulations, and precedents
Strong research skills particularly in the area of insurance regulation
Experience with drafting policy contracts and form development
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong ability to multi-task on projects while being attentive to details and target dates
Ability to collaborate with a team and with all levels of the organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office is required (intermediate excel skills are a must)
