Property and Casualty Insurance Coordinator

 

FirstService Financial is searching for an Insurance Coordinator to manage the placement of insurance on behalf of its Condominium and Homeowner Association clients.

Primary Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for the oversight and placement of association insurance to ensure the appropriate insurance coverage is in place at all times. Closely follow the steps of an insurance policy renewal timeline to obtain the appropriate underwriting information for insurance carriers to assess the risk and issue quotes. It is the Insurance Coordinator’s responsibility to minimize risk for both FirstService Residential and its Managed Associations through these job functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitoring Association insurance to ensure policies are in place and avoid lapses in coverage
Implementation of FirstService Financial insurance program
Consistent communication and gathering of information from brokers and agents
Review proposals and policies to complete coverage & premium comparisons
Maintaining databases for all Association insurance policy effective dates and coverage
Communicate in writing and verbally with insurance agents, community managers, and associates, vendors, as well as other association accounting personnel as needed
Comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations
Complete all necessary paperwork (both electronically and in hardcopy) to ensure accurate records are maintained
Assist with special projects as requested

Skill Requirements:

Excellent organizational skills
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent related experience
Experience with property and casualty insurance is a plus
Demonstrates working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.
Ability to communicate effectively written and verbal

Physical Requirements

Capable of working extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Able to see well enough to read faint or partially obscured writing or printing, with corrective lenses if needed.
Must be able to speak English in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities, including the exchange and receipt of information over the telephone.
Position involves sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, pushing, shoving, lifting, carrying, and moving objects that can weigh up to 15 lbs. This movement can occur throughout the day.
Must be able to interact with all types of individuals, be mentally alert, detail-oriented, and with good reasoning skills.
Must have finger dexterity for typing/using a keyboard.

Environmental Requirements

Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances. For safety reasons, employees must remain alert to working conditions and aware of safety, health, and environmental concerns.
Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations resulting from the proper performance of duties.

Reporting Responsibility: Reports directly to Vice President, Insurance.
