While many companies talk about supporting our troops, Gold Coast has quietly helped local veterans by providing free education to help them re-enter civilian life and the work force after military service. Since creating a veteran’s scholarship program in 2012, Gold Coast Schools has helped more than 92 local veterans by providing more than $52,000 in real estate and insurance courses for free.
The scholarship was created by Gold Coast owners John and Jim Greer, both veterans of the United States Air Force, as a way to give back to those who have made incredible sacrifices to protect the freedoms of this great country. “These men and women deserve a hero’s welcome for their service. They give so much and receive very little in return. The least we can do is help them start a new career through our veteran’s scholarship program” said John Greer. Jim Greer noted that “my wife and I both served in the Air Force, and it’s an honor to be able to give back to other vets.”
Recipients of the Gold Coast veteran’s scholarship program explain how it has helped them:
“This scholarship has allowed me to start working in an industry where drive and dedication determines the end result. I am able to spend more time with my family, it is almost like making up for lost time, deployments and all. Real estate is entrepreneurial by definition and I wake up every day with a purpose.”
