Ray brings over 25 years of real-world experience and proven success to Gold Coast Schools. He’s not only a successful real estate investor, instructor, and broker/manager, but also has a strong background in business as an executive and consultant.

Ray began his real estate journey in Hilton Head, SC, as a Broker Sales Executive for ClubCorp of America. There, he excelled in selling fractional homes, with a closing rate of 22%, more than double the 10% target. He was promoted to Director of Sales, where he led his team to a 123% increase in performance. His success led to a position at Melrose Development Corp, where he combined sales with personal real estate investments, resulting in significant returns.

Ray has extensive experience in selling high-end properties, including holding the record for the most expensive residential sale in Tampa Bay for years. He’s knowledgeable in land development, REO/Short Sale transactions, and various real estate projects, including luxury homes, affordable housing, multi-family units, and commercial properties.

His broad real estate prompted him to become a licensed Florida real estate instructor so he can share with others. Students appreciate how he connects real-world experiences to the material. Ray also brings skills in creating sales training programs, copywriting, and designing web-based training courses.

Ray has completed graduate work towards dual master’s degrees in business management and criminal justice and earned a B.S. from Arizona State University, where he was a scholarship football player. He’s also a licensed Mortgage Broker, Financial Advisor, and Private Pilot.  Ray lives in Tampa with his wife and is the proud father of three grown children.

Sharon, a Georgia native, has served in the real estate industry for over 15 years. Currently, she serves as both a Florida Licensed Realtor and a Florida Licensed Real Estate Instructor and is a part of the National Association of Realtors. She has an extensive background in business and entrepreneurship. She has served in various leadership positions in several fortune 500 companies such as Coca-Cola and HSBC Mortgage Services. She has in the most recent years served in the areas of Operations and Human Resources Management managing even high-profile areas in the Federal Government and Information Technology sectors. 

Sharon has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Human Resources Management. When she is not busy teaching real estate and serving in the real estate industry, as a Certified Master Life Coach and the founder of Connecting Vision Coaching Services, she provides a coaching service specializing in building emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, and executive leaders. Sharon currently resides in Tampa, and loves spending time with her two children. She believes that if you do what you love, you’ll never “work” a day in your life.

Adam Narkier is a real estate instructor who joined Gold Coast in 2015 teaching the 63-hour Sales Associate Pre-license and 14-hour Continuing Education courses. He is a licensed real estate broker, instructor, and previously a mortgage broker. Adam has spent the better part of his adult life in the real estate industry. He has been licensed and specializing in residential real estate since 2007 and enjoys working with both buyers and sellers. In addition, he was in the mortgage and banking industry for nearly 10 years prior to that.

Adam holds a Bachelors Degree in Public Management & Administration from Florida Atlantic University, an Associates of Arts Degree from Palm Beach Community College, is a member of the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches (RAPB), as well as a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity International. He is one of the few true native South Floridians born and raised in Palm Beach County, and has two rescue dogs that he loves dearly.

Alexander is currently a Real Estate Instructor at Gold Coast Schools and teaches: Pre-License, Post-License, Continuing Education courses. Alexander graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing, and from Broward College with a degree in Legal Studies. With almost 15 years as a real estate broker and owner he enjoys bringing his vast experience to the classroom.

Carlos A Suarez is a second generation Real Estate Agent who first came into the business as an assistant to one of Florida’s largest brokerages right after completing his Bachelor’s degree in business administration from Florida International University. With a strong belief that knowledge is the key to success, Carlos has committed himself to stay ahead of the game when it comes to the industry’s trends and education; which has taken him to participate in multiple real estate expos and workshops not only in the U.S. but in places like Mexico, Argentina and Colombia. As a huge soccer fan Carlos spends most of his free time either playing, watching or coaching soccer.

Cece transitioned into Real Estate from the Financial Industry in 2012 when she was looking to be independent after so many years in the corporate environment, and now has over 14 years of experience in the Orlando real estate market specializing in residential real estate. With her can do mindset, she has coached and counseled Real Estate Associates in believing they can, therefore helping them achieve the mindset to success. You will find her passion addictive and her skills to help you attain your goal second to none. Her passion for the real estate industry grew quickly, and she became an instructor to share her many years of knowledge and experience with students. During the last seven years she has instructed more than 2,000 students in Pre-Licensing, Post-Licensing, and Broker Licensing. She is happiest when watching the light bulbs go off for the students – it gives her a profound sense of accomplishment!

Having over 25 years in the business world, Cece has worn many hats from Sales Manager, VP of Sales, Financial Consultant, to CEO of her own company and most recently author. She is a proven leader in new business development and has also had remarkable success in sales training, as well as helping others to close deals. She has traveled across America with Charles Schwab developing and presenting seminars on complex information in a format that is easy to understand. Her focus was teaching women how to invest in the stock market.

Cece obtained her master’s degree in International Business from American University and is a member of the following associations, NAR, FAR, and Orlando Regional Realtors Association (ORRA).

Daniele Gordon is a Realtor Broker Associate with Coldwell Banker Realty and specializes in residential and commercial real estate in South Florida. I have been a Realtor since 2004 and my focus has been to assist my clients in making the best decision in one of the most important financial and emotional investments in their lives.

The day I graduated from the University of Miami Graduate School of Business, my Dad turns to me and says I think you should get your real estate license. I owed my Dad that much, since he had helped me through school. Over the years, my parents had bought and sold many properties, and they saw that I had an interest in the field. I did a few deals here and there, and then decided to leave the corporate arena and pursue Real Estate full-time.

My broad depth of knowledge from years of experience is my greatest benefit to the buying, selling and investing public. My vast market knowledge, integrity, advanced education/experience and use of cutting-edge technology is a large part of how I can help make a real estate transaction as seamless as possible for you.
Daniele graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Business Administration in Management Information Systems, Marketing and E-Commerce in 1998 and 2001, respectively. She also has a Master of Science in Higher Education specializing in College Teaching and Learning from Kaplan University.

Daniele has a true passion for real estate, so when she is not delivering my clients dreams, Daniele is a Real Estate Instructor at Gold Coast Schools. She takes pleasure in traveling the Caribbean, Africa, Europe and the continental United States. Daniele is a sports car enthusiast and a soccer Mom to Brice.

Diane Skopas – Real Estate Instructor

Eduardo joined Gold Coast in 2005 teaching real estate FREC 1, the CRAM review course, and the real estate post-license course. He has taught more than 5000 students and enjoys participating in their development and career success. He is a licensed real estate Broker, Instructor, and was previously a Mortgage Broker. Eduardo also holds a BA in Business Administration and Post Graduate in Marketing and Strategy. He is a professional businessman and entrepreneur who loves to play Monopoly.

Enrique is a lifelong Floridian, born and raised in South Florida and a resident in the Orlando, Florida area since 2017. He has 16 years of experience working for two Fortune 500 companies in their Sales, Customer service, and Training and Development Departments.

Licensed as a Real Estate Agent since 2018 with a commitment to always be an adult lifelong learner it was only a natural progression that he would find his way back to the classroom teaching and helping students following their dreams of entering the real estate profession. In his classroom, he takes immense pride in keeping his students engaged and making real estate fun. Enrique has instructed for Gold Coast for 3 years and is the “preferred” Disney Vacation Club instructor. Additionally, he has earned top salesperson as a Broker Associate in his brokerage.

Enrique holds the following in education, certifications: graduate of Barry University with a Master’s in Human Resource Development, Bachelor’s in Administration and Associate in Business Administration from Miami Dade College. He is a Licensed Real Estate Broker, a Permitted Real Estate School Instructor, and a Licensed Mortgage Loan Originator.

Fred DeFalco Jr has extensive experience with customer relations in buying and selling real estate, property management in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, experience as a real estate investor, an education in finance and real estate. In his current position as a Real Estate Broker his real estate skills are strengthened as well as his ability to adapt in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment. During his employment he has developed real-world experience that allows him to recognize the importance of continuous learning, creative thinking, and working with others to reach established goals and produce maximum results. Fred currently holds a Florida Real Estate Broker license, a Community Association Manager license and a Real Estate Instructor license. Fred is active in volunteer work and loves spending time with his 2 daughters.

Gilberto started as an instructor with Gold Coast Schools in March of 2019. He brings over 20 years of real estate sales and leasing experience in South Florida to the classroom. He currently holds a Broker License along with a degree in Computer Information Systems and a MBA.

Helena Grossberg moved to the United States from Brazil when she was young and lived in Pennsylvania for over 20 years prior to moving to Florida. She has a bachelor’s degree in marketing and business administration from Arcadia University in Glenside, PA, and a master’s degree in business administration from Drexel University, also in Philadelphia, PA, with a concentration in International Trade. She also has a graduate degree in Human Resources from Kaplan University, and a graduate certificate in communications from the University of Pennsylvania, PA.

She has been teaching for almost ten years, in all state-required classes for obtaining, renewing, or maintaining a real estate sales agent or broker’s license.

In addition, she practices real estate and provides mortgage services for her clients. She also provides alternative dispute resolution services to homeowners in their property losses, as she is certified by the Supreme Courts in Florida, Georgia, and Texas.

Mr. Grossberg holds the highest standards of ethics in her practice and sits on the professional standards board at the Miami Association of Realtors.

She speaks fluently Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

Since 2002 home buyers and sellers have come to know Irene Hey as one of the most honest, ethical REALTORS® in the industry. A resident of south Florida for over 40 years, Irene is a wife, mother of two, and grandmother of three, who started out in real estate buying, fixing up and selling her own homes. She represented her own transactions after experiencing disappointment with the lack of knowledge and integrity in the real estate industry.

Within a short period of time a number of friends and family members who were also in need of an honest, dependable agent asked Irene to represent them with their home purchases and sales. Irene’s volume of sales and responses from satisfied customers led her to switch careers from an award-winning journalist and photographer to a top-notch realtor, switching professions to satisfy customer demand. Irene is the broker/owner of a Boynton Beach based real estate brokerage firm where she collaborates with a team of agents.

Bringing her journalism and professional photography experience to the real estate industry has helped Irene’s listings stand out above the rest! Throughout her 20 plus years in the industry, Irene exclusively received her continuing education from Gold Coast Schools. She was thrilled to join their real estate instructor team to share her knowledge in the industry, as well as give back to the community that has helped further her career.

Jack began teaching at Gold Coast in 1998 and is passionate and experienced in teaching all of our real estate courses. He holds a real estate instructor license and real estate broker license, as well as has a B.S. Degree from Purdue University.

Jim’s real estate experience spans four decades in the Central Florida market, with a specialty in Residential Brokerages. Throughout his extensive career, he has trained more than 85,000 students! His wealth of experience and expertise fuels his passion for the industry and enjoys the endless opportunities to assist students in developing growth and success in their real estate businesses.

He has been training and developing people in business for most of his career with his in-depth knowledge of the industry including mortgage, marketing, sales, new agent training, coaching for experienced agents, and consulting/advising for brokers and managers. His consulting specializes in risk management and compliances for brokerages, and commercial and residential property investment analysis. Jim also holds a NASD Securities License Training (Series 6,7,22, & 39), and has authored course materials for Sales Contract, Listing Contract, Buyer Agency, Fair Housing and Property Management.

As member of NAR Board of Directors, Florida Realtors Board of Directors, Osceola Realtors 2024 President – Board of Directors, Jim is highly respected and admired in the Central Florida real estate market. He holds an AA from St. Petersburg College and BA, Florida State University Licensed Real Estate Broker.

Jorge’s experience and expertise in both the real estate industry and real estate education sphere make him a standout professional. With over two decades of experience in the Central Florida market, he brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to his roles as a Loan Officer, Real Estate Broker, and Instructor. Jorge’s commitment to education is impressive with tenure of over 15 years as a real estate instructor. Additionally, his role as an Instructor for the US Army’s Special Forces speaks volumes about his dedication to serving others and sharing his expertise in diverse settings. He has had the pleasure of helping thousands of students achieve their goals and fulfill their career aspirations.

His education includes Computer Engineering and Business Administration and Management from the University of Central Florida. He also holds memberships in NAR, FAR, and ORRA (Orlando Regional Realtors Association.)

Jose Antonio Velásquez, known as El Profe, is a business administrator, real estate broker, and experienced sales trainer. He is the creator of the Spanish-language real estate license program in Florida with Gold Coast School and the current Director of Spanish Courses.

Since 2004, he has helped over 150,000 people obtain their licenses in Florida. With a degree in Business Administration from the University of Lima, José has developed both virtual and in-person classes and has helped author a book approved by the State of Florida. José works with the instructors at Gold Coast Schools to ensure the program is top-notch, helping students pass their exams and start their real estate careers.

Jose has been interviewed by major media outlets including CBS, FOX NEWS, Telemundo, ABC, NBC, Yahoo Finance among others. Jose Miguel Arreaza joined Gold Coast Schools in 2012 and serves as a real estate instructor who teaches the Spanish 45-hour Post-license course. He holds a real estate broker and instructor license, 2-15 insurance license, and previously held a mortgage broker license. Prior to working at Gold Coast, Jose worked as a Realtor and brings real world experience into the classroom for students to benefit from. He previously studied law and business administration in Venezuela. When not teaching, Jose’s hobby is running.

Jose began his career in real estate while looking for a business opportunity in which he could utilize his extensive sales, management, and information systems skills. He had never worked in real estate, so he partnered up with a real estate attorney who did, and they formed a real estate brokerage that quickly grew to one hundred agents. Jose’s approach to classroom instruction encompasses a combination of real estate knowledge, real-world experience, and a sense of humor that provides students with a relaxed yet informative and entertaining learning environment. He has inspired thousands of students in his 17 years of instructing and preparing them for their state exam and enjoys seeing them begin their exciting new careers. Focusing on prospecting, pricing, contracts and best practices, Jose also spends a significant amount of time with new licensees on getting their real estate careers started.

With over 20 years in real estate, the last seven in the Central Florida market, he specializes in primarily residential real estate. For his clients, his number one focus is to ensure the client can achieve their business objectives in real estate while reducing liability. This is what gives him a profound sense of satisfaction.

Jose has worked as a sales associate, owner-manager of a brokerage of 100+ agents. He has obtained the CRS®, GRI®, e-Pro® designations, is Microsoft Office certified, and holds a Community Association Manager’s license, in addition to his BA in Management Information Systems from Florida International University and is bilingual.

Juan Carlos Velasquez is an excellent real estate instructor who joined Gold Coast in 2014 and teaches the FREC 1 Sales Associate Pre-license course. He holds a Real Estate Sales Associate license as well as a 2-20 & 2-15 insurance license. Prior to joining Gold Coast, Juan Carols worked for an insurance agency. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of San Luis Gonzaga, Peru. When not working, he has a passion for art and loves to draw and oil paint.

Mr. Veras opened his own brokerage 15 years ago due to the extraordinary potential of real estate. He enjoys instructing at Gold Coast schools and having the opportunity to share his extensive experience and knowledge to elevate his student’s future success in the industry.

As a resident of Broward County Florida for over forty years, I have participated personally and professionally in South Florida’s real estate growth. I am a Florida licensed Broker with experience in residential and commercial real estate. I am a Bachelors of Business Administration graduate of Florida Atlantic University with a minor in Marketing. My career experience includes banking and finance management, small business ownership and real estate investment. As a Florida licensed real estate instructor, I love giving back to the real estate community by educating, coaching, and supporting adults in their real estate career.

Kathy is a dedicated Florida Broker who has lived in the Central Florida area for over 24 years, and is originally from Gainesville, Florida. With her knowledge of the area and her decade-long experience in real estate, she brings a unique skill set to her role as an instructor in real estate. Kathy is the Broker/Owner of Cooper Homes concentrating in residential, new construction and 1st time home buyers. Her commitment to assisting others extends beyond real estate transactions; she actively gives back to the community and is passionate about supporting various initiatives.

With a background in HR/Training and a very experienced instructor, Kathy is involved with the community, especially the school system as K-12 public school educator for over 15 years. Her passion for the real estate industry and dedication to education is evident in her desire to inspire pre-licensing students, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the industry with the next generation of real estate professionals.

Kathy’s affiliations with organizations like NAR, FAR, ORRA, UF Alumni, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, as well as her status as a University of Florida graduate, underscore her commitment to professional development. Outside of her career, she is also busy traveling to baseball fields as a baseball mom. 

Keith teaches the 1-week Sales Associate Pre-license course and is well known as an excellent instructor for helping students pass both the course and state exam. He joined Gold Coast in 2004 and is dedicated to making the classroom experience enjoyable and memorable for students. Keith is a licensed Real Estate Broker and Instructor and comes from a background in the banking industry. When not teaching, Keith enjoys traveling and regularly drives from Miami to Toronto, Canada.

Larry Singh has 15 years experience in the real estate industry in roles varying from real estate agent, broker, and appraiser within South Florida. Currently Larry serves as a District Manager, instructor, and mentor to other real estate professionals. He has worked with new and seasoned agents on improving their customer care, general marketing, and business development techniques. Honesty and integrity, along with determination and dedication, are philosophies that Larry strives for in all aspects of his life. Applying these principles to his business has allowed him to explore positions in the corporate and government sectors of real estate. His background including a bachelor’s degree in real estate has given him the opportunity to work for some of the largest organizations in the state of Florida.

On his down time Larry likes to spend time with his two wonderful sons and beautiful wife.

Laurina Emiliani is a successful real estate broker, trainer, instructor, coach, and author with extended expertise in mortgage financing. She passions for “adding value”! Laurina comes with a background in public speaking and training entrepreneurs in mindset and leadership. She dedicates most of her time to helping professionals in various fields, those who feel stuck, making little or no progress, to defeat mindset limitations holding them back. As a member of the John C Maxwell Leadership Team, she focusses on speaking engagements, providing personal and professional development coaching and training to those looking to develop their professions and increase their income potential without feeling overwhelmed.

Lisa Viscaino started as an instructor for Gold Coast in September 2018. Lisa has been proud to share her vast knowledge and experience with our future Realtors. She sees it to be a great honor to be a part of a person’s professional growth. Lisa has attained her Certified Residential Specialist designation and is a current member of the Honor Society. In 2019 she has the distinct honor of serving as President of the Women’s Council of Realtors Miami Dade. Throughout all of her professional and personal accomplishments she finds that anything is possible as long as you work towards your dreams and goals.

Marlene Montenegro began her real estate career more than 15 years ago. Her career path led to roles as Designated REALTOR® and Managing Broker where Marlene participated in hundreds of residential and commercial real estate transactions. She was appointed Administrative Hearing Officer for a local government agency to preside over hearings for violations of adopted codes, including building and property maintenance. Marlene has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Miami and an Associate in Science in Radio and Television Broadcast Programming from Miami Dade College. She is licensed as Real Estate Broker and Instructor. In her Real Estate Instructor role, Marlene has extensive experience teaching Pre-licensing, Post-licensing, Continuing Education, and State Exam Review courses and enjoys sharing her passion for building real estate careers at Gold Coast Schools.

Marylin joined Gold Coast Schools in 2012 and is an exceptional real estate instructor teaching the sales associate and broker pre-license and post-license as well as continuing education and CRAM review courses. She holds both a real estate broker and instructor license, a GRI designation, and has a bachelors degree from Barry University in Nuclear Medicine.

Prior to working at Gold Coast, Marylin worked at a Brickell Law Firm working with real estate and corporate matters. From there she worked at Coldwell Banker as a Sales Associate from 2003-2009 in addition to teaching pre and post licensing classes. Beyond having a passion for helping students succeed, Marylin is a huge animal lover.

Millie Lawrence-Kotei is the Broker Owner of Kotei Real Estate in Coral Springs; she is a real estate professional with 30+ years of experience and a licensed Florida Real Estate Instructor. Millie is a part of the Broward Palm Beaches Realtor Association and a National Association of Realtors (NAR) member. Before Real Estate, Millie was a Marketing Assistant for a prominent Engineering Company and Banking Institution.

With much love for Florida’s landscape and marketing background, Millie entered the real estate industry as a REALTOR® in 1986, working for two reputable companies in Broward County. Millie excelled in real estate marketing and received several company recognition awards, including the Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) designations from the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

Millie holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science Degree in International Real Estate (MSIRE) from Florida International University (FIU). Millie specializes in selling and leasing residential real estate; her knowledge and experience in the real estate market, coupled with continuous real estate education, helped her educate home buyers and sellers, as well as other agents and members of the public.

In November 2009, Millie launched into entrepreneurship and started Kotei Real Estate; this was when unfavorable economic conditions influenced home sales. Still, she prepared to take advantage of the many opportunities from the crisis. Today, Kotei Real Estate remains innovative and resilient in serving its clients. Millie is proactive, fun-loving, and strives to support the success of others in the real estate sphere; she enjoys early morning walks on the beach and listening to jazz music in her downtime.

Raquel is an accomplished, multiple award winning, and financially astute executive. She has domestic experience in operations, P&L oversight, and marketing involving both start-up and growth organizations. She has been frequently promoted in recognition of innovation, problem solving, and delivering results consistently for over 20 years and is described as sharp, confident, and consistent driver of growth-oriented initiatives with diverse skill for deepening levels of team engagement.

In real estate, over the past 25 years, Raquel has carved out a niche specializing in Central Florida’s market, particularly catering to first-time homebuyers and income-producing properties. Her extensive background in the mortgage industry, coupled with her expertise in marketing, sales, and training, equips her with a comprehensive skill set to excel in this competitive field.

Over the past 11 years, she has positively impacted the lives of over 1,500 students through her instruction of qualifying and post-license courses. Her commitment to helping others achieve their goals and succeed in a career she loves reflects dedication to the growth of the industry.

Shari Carpenter has 30 years of diverse experiences handling complex administrative activities through the field of Real Estate, REO sales, Short Sales, Recruiting, Advancement, and Public Administration.

Her professional experiences include: Vendor management, Acquisition, sales and leasing, manage real estate agents, customer relations, RE0 listing and buyers agent, admissions, enrollments, recruitment, hiring, training, supervising support personnel and teachers, development, writing curriculum, grants, scholarship funding, corporate funding, planning and implementing special events, educational programs, acting as a community and corporate liaison, and facilitator.

Steve is a licensed real estate broker and instructor who has been in the real estate business since 1981. He began teaching Gold Coast’s sales associate pre-license, post-license, continuing education, and CRAM courses in 2011, and is well liked for his engaging teaching style. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Florida, Steve owned an antique mall, worked as a real estate broker who owned and operated his own office, served as a property manager, and specialized in both commercial and residential real estate. When not teaching, Steve has a passion for buying, restoring, and selling antique muscle cars.

Victor has more than 20 years of experience in Real Estate. He teaches pre-sales during the weekends. He is a Commercial Broker with an active license in Florida and Arkansas. He holds a CAM and Loan Origination licenses in FL. Victor excelled in his education graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, a master’s in electronic and pursuing master’s degrees in Telecommunications and Business Administration. While traveling the world in business affairs, Victor became fluent in 4 languages (Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Italian).

In addition to her 16 years of real estate experience specializing in residential and commercial sales, Vivian thrived in the Biopharmaceutical sales field for over 13 years where she had a strong success in sales and received several awards and accolades for her performance including Newbie of The Year, Employee of the Month, Listed in All Star Reports, President’s Club Member, nominated for Salesperson of the Year and placed top 5% in her company.

Vivian began her real estate career in South Carolina in 2008 and practiced real estate as a sales associate for five years there, then returned to Central Florida in 2017 and became a Real Estate Broker Owner of Ocean Real Estate Group, LLC, as well as a real estate instructor in 2019.

A graduate of the University of Miami, she earned a bachelor’s degree of science with a major in Microbiology/Immunology and English Literature, as well as minor in French. She speaks Spanish and French fluently as well. Her memberships include NAR, FAR, and Orlando Regional Realtors (ORRA.)

Vivian is highly enthusiastic about real estate, and especially enjoys teaching. Knowing she is a part of making a positive impact on thousands of students lives means everything to her. Walt has been an Instructor at Gold Coast Schools since 1998. He teaches the real estate sales associate pre-license course and the CRAM review which prepares students to pass the state exam. Over the years, Walt has taught all of the real estate courses that Gold Coast offers.

Walt teaches at the Lantana campus and is passionate about perfecting the materials used to teach so that he can better guide students towards success in their new careers. He has a real estate instructors license, real estate broker’s license, Bachelor’s Degree (BBA U of M), J.D. New York Law School. Before Gold Coast, he was an officer in the US Navy for 5 years and toured in Vietnam and England. He has 30 years of experience in data processing, 20 years in business law and approximately 15 years in real estate. When he is not teaching real estate classes, Walt enjoys spending time with family, playing golf and reading.

Selby Turnbull is a highly experienced Realtor | Broker Associate and Certified Real Estate Instructor based in Orlando. With over 9 years of real estate experience in the Central Florida market and over 20 years of experience in technology, marketing, retail, and secondary financing, he has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in these industries. Selby specializes in the Residential Real Estate and Short-term Rental/Vacation home sales.

Achieving the distinction of Certified Real Estate Instructor demonstrates his commitment to ongoing professional development and the highest standards of real estate education. It is important to him to share the vast knowledge of the real estate industry and be an inspiration to students looking to embark on a new career. Before obtaining her CAM license in 2008, Karen had a career in state government serving the Florida legislature, the Florida Dept. of Revenue, and the Florida Dept. of Insurance, and in the non-profit sector as a grant writer, governmental affairs director, outreach manager, and executive director. Looking for a change, Karen spent two years as a Realtor® before finding her next best career – community association management!

As a CAM, Karen had the opportunity to work with the law firm of Becker and Poliakoff’s community association practice group, ultimately providing support as the legal assistant to Gary Poliakoff, and serving as B&P’s statewide Education Outreach Coordinator. As a manager, she has worked with HOA and condominium associations, managing high-end and troubled properties, portfolios, bulk-buyer and developer-controlled properties. She has owned a community association business since 2009.

Karen is excited to serve as a CAM instructor and hopes to pass on her enthusiasm for community association management to Gold Coast students. “CAMs have many opportunities to contribute to building strong communities. It is an ever-changing challenge, but the rewards can be great.”

Laura brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to Gold Coast in 2015. She received her community association manager license in 2001, and has CAM experience that spans over fifteen years. Laura earned her PCAM designation from Community Association Institute in 2007. She is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

As an independent consultant, she worked with developers for five years. As senior manager with a community association firm in Palm Beach County, Laura provided supervision and training to other managers.

Laura’s educational background is in organizational leadership and employment law. She received her Master’s Degree with Barry University, and served as Adjunct Professor with Barry University from 2005 through 2012.

Laura is still active in the real estate profession as well as community association management. In her spare time she serves her own community association’s board of directors. Planning, design, communication and development are her personal enjoyments.

Stanley (Stan) Medow has been with GCPS as a CAM Instructor since 2002. He currently teaches CAM courses, as well as real estate and property management courses.

Stan has been professionally active in real estate and property management since the mid-1990’s. He became licensed as a Real Estate Broker in 1995. A year later, went on to become a licensed CAM. With his vast experience in all aspects of real estate, he went on to receive his license as a Real Estate Instructor in 1998.

He then began teaching real estate courses with GCPS in 2001 and was subsequently invited to teach CAM courses in 2002. Stan still maintains a small real estate investment portfolio, which he maintained with his father until his father’s recent passing.

Stan is a highly valued and sought after CAM instructor, due in part to his ability to relate highly specialized knowledge to adult students, some of whom have some background in the community association industry and some who have no industry background.

Stan is also an active and involved husband and father of two children. He has been active in the Boy Scouts of American for years, an Eagle Scout himself since his youth. Stan is still a Scout Leader for a local chapter.

Ricardo (Rick) Russi received his CAM license in 1995. He also holds a license as a real estate broker, and recently received his license as a Real Estate Instructor. Rick earned his Bachelor’s degree from Barry University in Legal Studies and his MBA from Florida Atlantic University, in Business Administration. He is currently working on a PhD at Kansas State University, focusing on financial planning Rick has owned a small business for over 20 years. He has a strong background in sales, business development, customer and employee relations, and community associations.

An active member of the community, Rick has served on several community committees, including the Miami-Dade County Housing and Urban Development Advisory Board, City of Miami Community Social Development Committee, Metro Miami Action Plan, and the Business Friends of the Northeast Dade Coalition.

In addition to teaching CAM classes with GCPS, Rick is also an adjunct at the school of business at Johnson & Wales University, where he is teaching business and finance courses.

Rick is married and has two daughters.

A recent addition to the GCPS team, Rick notes: “I value the reputation and the quality of Gold Coast Schools. I came here as a student in 1992, and I have been coming to the school for my continuing education ever since. Now I can assist others in achieving their objectives.”

Eduardo Pereira (Eddy) is a licensed Community Association Manager as well as a licensed Real Estate Broker in Florida. Additionally, he holds the esteemed designation of Professional Community Association Manager® (PCAM) earned through the Community Association Institute (CAI). He is active in the organization and has served as president of the Southeast Florida Chapter of CAI.

Eddy joined Gold Coast Schools as an instructor in 2019 teaching pre-licensing, exam preparation and continuing education courses to Community Association Managers (CAM).

A graduate of the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Education, Eddy also earned his master’s degree in administration and leadership from Ohio State University.

His experience is vast including management of large-scale community associations, high-rise condominiums, suburban complexes, mixed-used buildings such as hotel/condominiums, along with residential apartments. Eddy also leads onsite personnel including the managers.

When asked why he enjoys teaching, Eddy wrote: “I teach community association management as a tribute to all my mentors, team members, and residents who have helped shape me into the professional community association manager I am today. Nery Amaya received his LCAM in 2018. He is also a licensed real estate broker and real estate instructor. Nery has an extensive background in property management, sales, and real estate coaching. His business marketing degree from 2011 led him to also have a solid foundation in business formation and business consulting. He is currently working on his general contractor license.

Nery brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his teaching style for pre-and post-licensing courses. He is known for his energetic and engaging approach, using real world examples to help his students excel in the real estate and community association management world. Nery’s passion for the industry shines through in his dedication to helping others succeed.

An active member of the community, Nery is a proud member of Miami Realtors and Construction Management Certification from Miami-Dade College. During his free time, Nery enjoys spending time with his daughter, reading and networking.

Luis Bentancor joined Gold Coast in 2016 and teaches the General Contractor exam prep courses that help students who are preparing for the state contractor exam. He is an Architect and a General Contractor with years of industry experience that he brings into the classroom to help students succeed. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Architecture from Universidad de la República from Montevideo, Uruguay; he studied Engineering at Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela and is a LEED Accredited Professional. He previously worked as a Project Manager for a construction company and as an Associate Architect in an Architectural Studio. He owns and manages his own construction company.

Lauren Broom is the owner of Space Coast Pool School, LLC for the past 12 years. She is a PHTA® Authorized Instructor. She attended college at the University of Central Florida where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She holds her Registered Sanitarian, R.S. with the National Environmental Health Association (certification in public health). Lauren has 17 years of experience in the inspection of commercial public pools in Florida as an inspector from the Florida Department of Health along with recreational waterborne disease outbreak investigations. She enjoys educating aquatic professionals on the importance of maintaining a swimming pool facility for the health and safety of their patrons.

In 2021 Lauren became an authorized OSHA trainer for the OSHA 10 in General Industry course. She was the first educational instructor to try to break the barrier by teaching this type of course in the pool industry. Her intention is to be able to teach these courses for the aquatic industry to improve workplace health and safety practices.

Chris Clausing is a Certified General Contractor in the State of Florida with over 20 years’ experience in the Construction and Inspection industry. As a Gold Coast Instructor, Chris has helped thousands of students prepare for and pass their certification exams for state licensure. Chris works as a Consultant with The University of Miami – Master of Construction Management Program mentoring future Contractors and Construction Professionals and sits as a Consensus Committee Member for the IECC helping shape the energy codes of the future. As Program and Curriculum Innovation Director, Chris is committed to providing the best learning experience for all Gold Coast students and developing best-in-class industry training programs for lifelong professional development.

Orlando Cuello is a Construction professional with over 30 years of experience managing private and public construction projects. He graduated from Universidad Piloto in Bogota, Colombia in 1981 with a bachelor’s degree in Architecture. He continued onto his M.B.A. at Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia and graduated in 1997. In addition, he obtained his ESAP (Escuela Superior de Adm. Publica) in Barranquilla, Colombia in 2000 in Public Management. He holds a General Contractor license since 2006.

Gilberto Fernandez is a Certified Building Contractor since 1976, a Certified Roofing Contractor since 2005, and a Certified Home Inspector since 2010.

He received his Business Administration and Accounting Degree at The Havana & Oriente University – Cuba. Once residing in the US, he attended the following higher learning institutions to improve knowledge in business: Jones College – Orlando, Fla – Administrative Accounting. Rollins College – Winter Park, Fla – Business Administration and Commercial Law Courses.

Gilberto was once the President of the Florida Prestressed Concrete Assn. and held chairmanship of different committees with the association including the FDOT Liaison and Plant Certification, Safety. He conducted presentations and seminars with Trade Associations, Engineers, and Architects about the benefits of utilizing Prestressed Concrete in their design and construction. Gilberto has been married for 46 years with 2 children and 2 grandchildren.

Dawn is an Instructor for Gold Coast and teaches the General Contractor cram classes to aid students in their preparation for their state licensing tests. She teaches out of the Tamarac, Lantana, and Doral campuses.

Dawn has an Associate of Arts degree in Secondary Education from Broward Community College, a Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Barry University, Graduate Work in Psychology from Nova University, and a General Contractor license from Gold Coast Schools. She has been working in various phases of the construction industry since 1985. She has been teaching both individuals and small groups in private tutoring here at Gold Coast, and also teaches in a classroom setting. Dawn is passionate about seeing students have that “AH-HA moment” when problem solving.

When not working, Dawn enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and active adventure traveling. Dawn has completed several bicycle trips across the United States and Canada.

Doug has been instructing with Gold Coast Schools for over 20 years. He is a former contractor, inspector and building official. He has written many classes and is one of those individuals that enjoys taking tests. Doug has the ability to express terms and thoughts in everyday terms for easy understanding and strives to give you the best experience in your training and education, with a little fun thrown in.

Simone Lewis has been in Construction since 2016 and is currently the owner/president of S&D Home Remodeling her own Construction company. she is a Licensed Certified General Contractor, and currently pursuing is a Bachelor in Supervision and Management, from Broward College.

Miguel is an experienced Building Code Professional, General, and Roofing Contractor with a demonstrated history of working in the construction and public administration industries. He has a Master of Construction Management and Public Administration (MPA).

Hans Pinto, originally from Santiago de Chile, has been in construction since 2005, working until 2016 with electrical companies doing things such as replacing old electrical panels in residential buildings, installing complete electrical systems for brand new homes and rewiring lighting systems for each of the inmates’ cells in one of the towers at a jail in Coconut Creek, just to name a few.

Currently he is the President/Owner of “An American Dream Home Inspection”, his own licensed and certified Home Inspection company, as well as the vice president of a maintenance company servicing restaurants across South Florida. Hans became a part of the Gold Coast roster during the beginning of 2022 and is now an instructor for Home Inspection; he also teaches the cram course the day before the State test and the Home Inspection Continuing Education class as well.

Miguel graduated from Dade County Junior College with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology in 1969. He started in roadway and bridge construction from 1967 until 1969. Miguel owned a construction business and retired in 2018. He teaches General, Building, Residential and Roofing Contractor courses.

Mr. Joseph C. Rebuck is a state Certified General Contractor since 2003, Joe first joined the Gold Coast team as a part time instructor in 2004. Over his career Mr. Rebuck has owned his own General Contracting Company, served as director of Property Management for Lennar Homes Dade Division, was an area Facility Manager for Washington Mutual Bank/CB Richard Ellis as well as an area manager for Kings Point Condominium Association in Tamarac, Florida.

In addition to holding his General Contracting & Roofing Licenses Mr. Rebuck is credentialed as a License Real Estate Broker, Licensed CAM, Licensed Home Inspector, License Mold Assessor & Remediator, LEED AP and a Certified Pool Operator (CPO)

Dominick Scarfo is a licensed Florida Architect and Licensed Florida General Contractor. He has been in the Architectural Profession since 1958 and studied at the Boston Architectural Center, where he won the top student award in his fifth year of studies. He taught for four years at the Boston Architectural Center and opened his own firm in Boston in 1973. He converted old estate buildings into condominiums in the late 70s and early 80s and semi retired until he received a call stating that a former client was having problems getting his building finished in Florida. He came to Florida and got the building completed ahead of time and decided to relocate to Florida. He received his Certified General Contractors License in 1987. He enjoys teaching and helping students and started with Gold Coast Schools in 1998.

Charles Stanley has worked for more than thirty years in the mechanical/electrical/plumbing trades. He received his Mechanical and Plumbing contractors licenses from the State of Florida in 1993. He is currently serving Gold Coast Schools as an instructor for Air Conditioning and Mechanical contractor license applicants.

Jeff Shanley, a South Florida native, began his career at Miami-Dade College following the curriculum toward becoming a mechanical contractor in 1980. Jeff’s primary background as a Mechanical Contractor has been in Design/Build of commercial projects throughout Florida, then specializing in international work where his specialty in design-build brought him to the General Service Administration (GSA) assigned to the U.S. State Department. During his time with the GSA, Jeff specialized in hospitals, U.S. Embassies, U.S. Interest Sections, and power plants. He was instrumental in identifying and overcoming the challenges of design and installation of mechanical systems in these entities within the unique environments of Cuba, Western Europe, and South America. After nearly two decades, Jeff retired in 2018 from his work with the GSA, and from active contracting endeavors in 2019. During his tenure as a mechanical contractor, Jeff has served as a mentor to dozens of up-and-comers in the industry as they worked their way through Trade and Union School and into their careers. Jeff remains dedicated to enhancing the profession of mechanical contracting and presently serves as an Inspector for the International Building Code Inspector for the GSA and has been an instructor at Gold Coast Schools since 2019. Jorge Urrutia has been an instructor at Gold Coast Schools since 1995. He is an instructor for Home Inspection, Wind Mitigation and Continuing Education. He started his career as a Building Inspector and has since become a Project Manager. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Architecture from the University of Florida and Professional Certifications in General Contracting, Plans Examination, Building Inspection, Home Inspection, Mold Remediation, Mold Assessment and Roofing. He authored our current Wind Mitigation and Home Inspection CE courses.

Daniel “Dan” Villa, AIA is a registered architect. He has been drafting since 1994 and he loves helping people find better ways to do what they do. He is a sole-practitioner currently focusing on single family residential, but he has also been involved in commercial design and construction during his 20+ years in the field. Dan currently teaches Plan Reading.
