The Building Code Basics online course provides an overview of the structure, volumes, and highlights contained in the Florida Building Code. This course examines the Building, Residential, and Existing Building volumes.
Learning how the code chapters are interrelated and work together will help you to become more familiar with current codes and how to identify the more important technical requirements in the code.
Building Code Course Approvals
This course has been approved by the following boards:

- BCAIB: 2 hours (General, by reciprocity)
- ECLB: 2 hours (Technical)
- FBAID: 2 hours (H/S/W); Part of a 24-hour CE requirement

Do you have an out-of-State license? Are you applying for a Florida license based on your previous experience as an out-of-State Contractor? You may need a different course.
General / Residential / Building Contractors, Certified Roofing Contractors, or Electrical Contractors applying via Endorsement or Reciprocity, can learn about Out-of-State contractor endorsement for more information pertaining to your specific State application requirements.
Course Completion and Reporting
Upon successfully completing this course you will be able to print the hard copy completion certificate for your records. For state-certified licensees, Gold Coast will electronically report your completed CE hours to the DBPR and the appropriate boards for you.
Course Expiry
This online course expires two years from the date of purchase. However, your completion certificates will remain indefinitely.
