14- Hour Florida Real Estate Continuing Education Course

To renew your Florida real estate license, you must complete 14 hours of continuing education every two years. This includes:

• 3 hours of Core Law to stay updated on legal changes and compliance requirements.
• 3 hours of Business Ethics to reinforce ethical practices.
• 8 hours of specialty real estate courses to broaden your expertise.

Your real estate license expiration date is listed on your license. Most Florida real estate licenses expire on March 31 or September 30 of odd or even years, depending on when you were initially licensed.  

The Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) will send you a renewal notice approximately 60 days before your license expiration date. To avoid surprises, you can also check your renewal deadline anytime through your DBPR online account. 

If this is your first license renewal, you must complete post-licensing education instead of the standard continuing education.  

• Sales Associates: Complete a 45-hour post-licensing course.
• Brokers: Complete a 60-hour post-licensing program.

Missing your renewal deadline results in your license status becoming involuntarily inactive.  

• If this happens, you’ll have up to 24 months to complete a 28-hour Reactivation Course and meet all renewal requirements.
• Failing to do so within that timeframe will result in your license becoming null and void, meaning you’ll need to restart the licensing process.
