The City of Sunrise is seeking an experienced building professional to join our Community Development Department as Assistant Building Official.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished contractor, inspector, plans examiner, architect, engineer, or building professional to bring their technical expertise and leadership experience to one of South Florida’s dynamic municipal building operations.
The Assistant Building Official works alongside the Building Official to help oversee building permitting, plan review, inspections, Florida Building Code enforcement, and Building Division staff, while working directly with contractors, architects, engineers, property owners, residents, and other governmental agencies. The position also serves as Building Official in the Building Official’s absence.
Salary: $113,191.80 – $159,938.29 annually
Schedule: Full-Time
Location: Sunrise, Florida
Application Period: Continuous
Ideal candidates will bring significant experience in the building trades, inspection, plans examination, engineering, architecture, or construction, along with the experience necessary to meet Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals (BORA) requirements for certification as an Assistant Building Official. Experience within the High Velocity Hurricane Zone (HVHZ) is an important component of the qualification requirements.
