Obtaining a Florida real estate sales associate license is often the entry point into a career in Florida real estate. Once the individual has taken and passed the 63 hour real estate sales associate course, whether online or classroom based, and passed the Florida state exam, their real estate career begins.
Many new real estate licensees think that a career in Florida real estate means selling houses. While a large percentage of Florida licensees are involved in residential sales, a Florida real estate license allows an individual to practice in a variety of specialties.
Some of the specialties in Florida include:
- Residential
- Commercial
- Agricultural
- Industrial
- Time shares
- Real estate development
While most real estate sales positions are salaried positions, people working as assistants in real estate offices or occasionally as leasing agents may find salaried positions available. Florida real estate license law regulates the activities that require a real estate license. If in doubt, it’s always better to have the real estate license.
While the Florida sales associate license is somewhat general in nature, other courses and designations are available for those who wish to specialize in a particular area. Although a licensee can legally practice in any of these specialties, advanced real estate training in the particular specialty is highly recommended. As with other businesses, studies have shown that those with more advanced training and designations tend to make more money in real estate.
Florida Realtors and local associations such as the Miami Association of Realtors, Greater Ft. Lauderdale Association of Realtors, and Realtor Association of the Palm Beaches offer advanced career training and designation courses for Realtors. Popular designation courses include the GRI, CRS, and CCIM programs, along with dozens of others.
Gold Coast Schools offers a variety of other training programs that real estate licensees may find beneficial. These include the CAM or Community Association Manager program, Commercial real estate training seminars, and property management classes. Wherever you get training, Gold Coast recommends that all new licensees develop a training plan to help lead them on the path to being a real estate professional.
As real estate sales associates progress in their careers, they may want to open an office or hire other sales associates to help duplicate efforts. In order to accomplish these goals, the sales associate would be required to obtain their Florida real estate broker license. Gold Coast offers the classes necessary to become a Florida real estate broker, both online and in the classroom.
Gold Coast is Florida’s largest real estate school and has been in business since 1970.
